Using VEHO TV Services on Hotel, Hospital, and Public Wi-Fi Networks
Updated: Oct 5
VEHO TV services such as Infiniti TV, TroyVision, My Simply TV Play, and My Simply TV Max are designed to work over an internet connection. When I use these services at home, I usually have much more control over my internet connection and network equipment. That changes when I travel.
Hotels, hospitals, guest networks, airports, apartment common areas, businesses, and other public Wi-Fi locations control their own networks. Because of that, my VEHO TV service may perform differently than it does on my home internet connection.
Public Networks May Restrict Streaming Traffic
Many hotels, hospitals, businesses, and public Wi-Fi providers use firewalls and network-management systems to control how their internet connection is used. These systems may:
Block certain types of streaming traffic.
Restrict particular ports or network protocols.
Limit the amount of bandwidth available to each connected device.
Prioritize basic web browsing over video streaming.
Require users to sign into a captive Wi-Fi portal before full internet access is available.
My VEHO TV device or service can be fully operational while the local network prevents or limits its connection.
Some Networks Have Data or Bandwidth Limits
Public and guest Wi-Fi networks are often shared by dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of users. Some locations may place limits on:
Data usage.
Streaming resolution.
Download speeds.
Connection speeds per device.
The number or type of devices that can connect.
Streaming television requires a consistent internet connection. If the local network becomes congested, I may experience buffering, slower channel loading, reduced picture quality, interruptions, or connection errors. These conditions do not necessarily indicate a problem with my VEHO TV service.
What About Using a VPN?
A VPN can sometimes allow internet traffic to travel through a different encrypted connection and may help in situations where a network is filtering certain types of traffic. However, a VPN is not a guaranteed solution. Some public networks block VPN connections as well. A VPN can also reduce connection speed because my internet traffic has to travel through an additional server.
I should also follow the internet-use policies of the hotel, hospital, business, or other network provider. VEHO TV cannot guarantee that a VPN will work on a particular network or that the network owner permits its use. A VPN also cannot fix an internet connection that simply does not have enough bandwidth to support streaming.
Streaming Quality Depends on the Network I Am Using
Whether I am using Infiniti TV on my own compatible device, a TroyVision streamer, or a My Simply TV streamer, the quality of my experience ultimately depends on the internet connection available at my location. The network provider controls:
Internet speed.
Available bandwidth.
Wi-Fi signal strength.
Firewall settings.
Network filtering.
Device restrictions.
Data limitations.
Network congestion.
VEHO TV does not control any of these systems. For this reason, I cannot guarantee streaming performance on hotel, hospital, business, guest, or public Wi-Fi networks.
What VEHO TV Can Verify
If I contact VEHO TV because my service is not working while connected to a public or third-party network, our troubleshooting responsibility is limited to the VEHO service itself. We can verify whether:
The VEHO TV service is online or experiencing an outage.
My VEHO-provided service or account is active.
There is a broader service issue affecting customers.
If our systems are operating normally, problems occurring specifically on a hotel, hospital, business, guest, or public Wi-Fi network must be addressed with the administrator or provider of that network. VEHO TV cannot modify their firewall, increase their bandwidth, remove their data restrictions, change their Wi-Fi configuration, or guarantee that their network will allow streaming traffic.
Your Service Can Be Working Even When the Network Is Not Cooperating
This is the most important thing to remember. If my VEHO TV service works normally on another internet connection but does not work properly on a particular hotel, hospital, or public Wi-Fi network, the issue is most likely related to that network's configuration or capabilities. My Infiniti TV, TroyVision, or My Simply TV service can be fully active and operational even when the network I am visiting prevents me from using it normally.
When I'm away from home, I think of the internet connection as part of the equipment required to watch. VEHO TV provides the television service and supported VEHO hardware where applicable, but the network I connect to determines whether that service can reach my device and how well it performs.
VEHO TV LLC — Your television service can travel with you. The network you connect to still matters.
Conclusion
In summary, using VEHO TV services on hotel, hospital, and public Wi-Fi networks can be challenging. Understanding the limitations of these networks is crucial. I must remember that while my VEHO TV service can travel with me, the quality of my streaming experience depends on the network conditions.
For the best experience, I should always check the network capabilities before relying on public Wi-Fi for streaming. If I encounter issues, I can verify my VEHO service status, but the responsibility for network performance lies with the provider.
If I want to enjoy uninterrupted streaming, I may need to consider alternative internet options, such as mobile hotspots or personal Wi-Fi devices.
